Author Guidelines

When submitting an article to the editorial office, it is recommended to follow the Journal Templates (see Rules for Authors).

I. Manuscript. It should be submitted to the editorial office electronically through the Journal's website. The uploaded file containing the article should be in Microsoft Word format (*.doc, *.docx).

  1. The total word count of the manuscript (original research, lectures, reviews), including tables and the reference list, should not exceed 6,000 words. The word count for short genre articles in scientific communication should not exceed 4,000 words, and for brief communications and letters to the editor, it should be within 1,500 words. You can check the word count in Word by going to the menu ("File" - "Properties" - "Statistics"). If the author believes that exceeding the word limits is justified and cannot be reduced, the decision to publish will be made by the editorial board based on the reviewer's recommendation.

  2. Manuscript text format. The text should be typed in Times New Roman font, size 14 pt, with a line spacing of 1.15 pt. The margins on each side of the page should be 2 cm. Text formatting should ONLY use italics or bold font for emphasis, NOT underlining. All repeated spaces and unnecessary line breaks should be removed from the text (using the "find and replace" feature in Microsoft Word).

  3. The file containing the article text uploaded to the submission form should include all the necessary information for publication, including figures and tables. The manuscript structure should adhere to the following template:

  • Article title.
  • Author names. The surnames of the authors should be provided before the initials of their first and middle names (e.g., Ivanov P.S., Petrov S.I., Sidorov I.P.).
  • Affiliation. The official FULL name of the institution should be provided without abbreviations. If the manuscript involves authors from different institutions, the names of the institutions and the corresponding authors' surnames should be matched by adding numerical indexes in uppercase letters before the institution names and after the surnames of the respective authors.
  • Abstract. The article's abstract should be structured, including introduction, objective, materials and methods, results, and conclusions. The abstract should be within 250-350 words.
  • Keywords. 3 to 5 keywords should be provided to facilitate indexing of the article in search engines.
  • Conflict of interest information. Authors should disclose potential and explicit conflicts of interest related to the manuscript. A conflict of interest can be any situation (financial relationships, employment or work in institutions with financial or political interest in the published materials, official duties, etc.) that could influence the author of the manuscript and lead to data concealment, distortion, or biased interpretation. The presence of a conflict of interest for one or more authors is not a reason for article rejection.
  • Sponsorship information. The source of funding for the research and the article publication process (foundation, commercial or government organization, private individual, etc.) should be indicated. It is not necessary to specify the funding amount.
  • Acknowledgments. Authors may express gratitude to individuals and organizations that contributed to the publication of the article in the journal but are not authors of the article.
  • Full text (in Russian, English, or both languages) should be structured into sections. The structure of the full manuscript text describing the results of original research should follow the accepted template and include sections: introduction (background), objective and tasks, materials and methods, results, discussion, and conclusions. References to literary sources in the article should be cited following the example (Ivanov, 2006).
  • Reference list. Each source in the bibliography (reference list) should be placed on a new line without a sequential number. Detailed guidelines for formatting the bibliography can be found in the special section "Bibliography Formatting" in the Journal Template. The most important rules include:

  • If the editorial office detects the concealment of potential and explicit conflicts of interest by the authors, it may be grounds for rejection of the manuscript.
  • The format of the reference lists should comply with the requirements and standards of the APA style, which will facilitate the indexing of the article in international databases (see the "Bibliography Formatting" section). When citing journal articles (the most common source of information for citations), the following template should be followed: Author, A. A., Co-Author, B. B. (Year). Article title. Journal Title, Volume(Number), page-page. doi
  • In the reference list, all works should be listed in alphabetical order.
  • Each source in the bibliographic description should include ALL AUTHORS. It is not permissible to abbreviate the article title. The full title of English-language journals should be provided.
  • It should be noted that periods should be placed after the authors' initials, and there should be a space between the initials. The article title and journal title should not be separated by the "//" symbol. A shortened format should be used for indicating the publication date, journal volume, number, and page range. Example: Bukreev, N. S., Paramonov, G. V., Sumerin, V. A., & Shank, M. A. (2020). Benefits of applying neurotechnologies in the food industry. Health, Food & Biotechnology, 2(1), 45-57. https://doi.org/10.36107/hfb.2020.i1.s266

II. Tables should be incorporated into the article text and should have a numbered heading with clearly marked columns that are easy and understandable to read. The data in the tables should correspond to the numbers in the text but should not duplicate the information presented in it. References to tables within the text are mandatory.

III. Drawings (graphs, diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and other illustrations created with MS Office tools) should be contrasty and clear. The volume of graphic material should be minimal, except for works where this is justified by the nature of the research. Each figure should be included in the text and accompanied by a numbered caption. References to figures within the text are mandatory.

IV. Photos, screenprints (screenshots), and other non-drawn illustrations should be uploaded separately in a special section of the article submission form as *.jpeg, *.bmp, .gif files (.doc and *.docx - in case additional annotations are applied to the image). The image resolution should be >300 dpi. The image files should be named according to the figure number in the text. In the file description, the figure caption should be provided separately, which should correspond to the title of the photo included in the text (example: Figure 1. Research scheme).

V. Ethical standards compliance. To publish the results of original work, it is necessary to indicate whether the research participants signed an informed consent. In the case of research involving animals – whether the research protocol complied with ethical principles and standards for conducting biomedical research involving animals. In both cases, it is necessary to indicate whether the research protocol was approved by an ethics committee (with the mention of the name of the corresponding organization, its location, protocol number, and committee meeting date).

VI. Supporting documents. When submitting a manuscript to the journal's editorial office, it is necessary to additionally upload files containing scanned images of filled and certified supporting documents (in *.pdf format). Supporting documents include a cover letter from the author's workplace with the stamp and signature of the organization's head, as well as signatures of all co-authors (a separate cover letter is required for each organization mentioned in the manuscript).

VII. Completion of the online form. For successful indexing of articles in domestic and international databases when submitting a manuscript to the editorial office through the online form, it is necessary to separately and thoroughly enter all its metadata. Some metadata should be entered separately in Russian and English: the name of the institution where the manuscript authors work, detailed information about the workplace and position held, the title of the article, the article's abstract, keywords, and the name of the sponsoring organization.
